Jana Haas (b. 1979 in Kazakhstan) is one of the best-known angel mediums in the German-speaking world. She has published more than 15 books, among them the Spiegel bestseller Der Blick hinter den Horizont, and has run her own institute on Lake Constance since 2005. At the beginning of her path stands an experience she had at a river at the age of six – one that shaped her life.
A childhood in Kazakhstan
Jana Haas was born on 27 March 1979 in Zelinograd – today's Astana – in what was then the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic. Her maternal ancestors were Volga Germans: German settlers whose families had emigrated to Russia in the 18th century and were deported to Central Asia under Stalin. She went to school in Pavlodar.
By her own account she has perceived the spiritual world since earliest childhood. The formative event came at age six: at a river she had a first conscious near-death experience in which, as she describes it, the world beyond opened up to her. What people with near-death experiences frequently report – that the experience reorients the course of a life – can almost be read straight off her biography.
A real estate agent with clairvoyance
In 1992 the family emigrated to Germany and settled near Bonn. Jana Haas finished secondary school, attended commercial college and trained as a real estate agent – a remarkably down-to-earth start for someone who says she can see the spiritual world "as clearly as the material one".
"I can see the spiritual world as clearly as the material one."
This double track – a solid profession on one side, an unusual perception on the other – is familiar from many mediums' biographies: Dolly Röschli was a flight attendant, Pascal Voggenhuber an actor, Sam Hess a forester, Paul Meek an opera singer, and Birgit Fischer, too, turned her perceptions into a profession only in adulthood. In Jana Haas's case it took until her mid-twenties before she turned the perception into a profession.
The Cosmogetic Institute
In autumn 2005 she founded her own institute on Lake Constance, where she offers seminars, courses and training programs to this day. Out of her work grew the Cosmogetic method – her own combination of energy work, angel communication and life teaching, with multi-year training tracks: the Cosmogetic Soul Companion for grief and end-of-life support, Cosmogetic Healing and the Cosmogetic Life Coach. If you want to check whether such a training suits you, our article on learning clairvoyance offers a framework for what mediumship training can and cannot do.
The pricing of her personal offerings is striking: she delivers individual angel messages in two-hour Zoom group sessions for 50 francs or euros, and one-hour distance healing treatments cost 30. The group format deliberately keeps the threshold low – in a market where individual sittings with well-known mediums quickly cost many times as much, that is a statement. Accordingly, her sessions fill up fast.
More than 15 books
Since 2008 Jana Haas has published with major trade publishers – Ullstein, Knaur, Arkana. Her subjects: angels and guardian angels, the worlds beyond, healing and the conduct of life. Der Blick hinter den Horizont became a Spiegel bestseller; in 2020 Arkana published her autobiography Mein Seelenweg ins Licht, which spans the arc from her childhood in Kazakhstan to her work today.
She became known to a wider television audience early on: as far back as January 2008 she was a guest on the SWR talk show Nachtcafé – at a time when angel mediums were still a curiosity on German television. Congresses, TV and press features followed, as well as several in-depth interviews on MYSTICA.TV – her major conversation "Mein Leben als Medium und Seelenbegleiterin" can be found on our Knowledge page.
Children's aid in Russia
Less known, but telling: in 2010 she founded the association Jana Haas – Kinderhilfe in Russland e.V., which supports disabled children in Russia. The woman who came to Germany as a child from the collapsing Soviet Union gives something back to her old homeland – a commitment that deserves respect regardless of where one stands on the question of angels.
Why Jana Haas is interesting
- A track of her own: while most well-known mediums work through afterlife contacts, Jana Haas has placed angel communication at the centre – with her own method and her own institute since 2005.
- A near-death experience as the starting point: her path begins not with esoteric seminars but with a childhood experience of the kind near-death research has documented many times.
- Low-threshold formats: group sessions for 30 to 50 francs instead of expensive individual sittings.
- Constancy and substance: twenty years of institute work, more than 15 books with major publishers, charitable commitment.
Jana Haas embodies a quiet variety of the mediumistic profession: no stage spectacle, but books, training and group work – carried by a perception that has accompanied her since her childhood at the river in Kazakhstan.
