Barbara Root

Barbara Root is a registered medium of the Lily Dale Assembly, a healer and a mentor. At Fellowships of the Spirit she serves as Mentor Coordinator, guiding first- and second-year students through their intensive studies; it was there that she herself completed the Spiritual Insight Training programme and the two-year advanced mediumship course. Her training began with one-year programmes under John Michael Thornton and Carol Wise, followed by a three-year mentorship with Carol Borkowski in mediumship and Access Consciousness; she became a certified Reiki Master under Joe Thornton. She has also studied with Bill Coller, Greg Kehn, Sharon Klingler and Angie Abt, and with Tom Cratsley, with whom she completed the Healing Mastery programme at Lily Dale. To this she adds classes in Qi Gong, Chinese medicine and meridian work, crystal healing, tarot, platform mediumship and Ho'oponopono philosophy; at the Arthur Findlay College she studied the role of colour in healing and mediumship. She is a member of the City of Light Spiritualist Church, serves on the Lily Dale Environmental Committee and volunteers with the local Fire Department Auxiliary. A private reading costs $100. She begins by connecting with Spirit and then links the sitter to loved ones who have passed; from this come insights into present circumstances, relationships and career as well. Sittings are available in person at Lily Dale (1 Second Street) and via Zoom. She also offers spiritual and energetic healing online for $100, since in her understanding Spirit works beyond time and space; a short reading accompanies it. She expressly does not diagnose or prescribe for health conditions. Online healings are generally held off-season, as Lily Dale offers daily healings at the Healing Temple from 20 June through Labor Day. For groups of six to eight she hosts reading and healing gatherings in which each guest is seen individually and in confidence; the charge depends on the number of guests, and the host receives their reading free. On a donation basis she also offers a blessing of living spaces — intended for a new home or a room that feels off after illness, stress or a death; a short reading of the house is included.
