Paul Brereton

Paul Brereton works as a medium, trance medium, tutor and paranormal investigator, and lives in Glastonbury, England. He describes himself as a born medium: for as far back as he can remember he has seen spirit and heard spirit voices, and poltergeist activity occurred around him from a very young age. His mother Marcella was decisive here – she knew the same connection and guided him through those years, and while still very young he was already passing on communication to her friends. He was later trained and mentored by Eric Hatton, one of the formative figures of British Spiritualism. By his own account he has worked as a tutor at the Arthur Findlay College at Stansted, and he has worked throughout the UK and Europe for over forty years, regularly in Germany. One of his German trance seminars is independently documented by the certificate of Melodi Schäfer, who studied with him in Duisburg in March 2024. Private sittings last between 30 minutes and an hour and can be held in person in Glastonbury, or by Zoom, Skype, telephone or email. He stresses that he does not need to be physically present to make the connection. He describes the difference from platform work himself: in a demonstration you receive a great deal of information but no private details, because those are not for a whole audience to hear – a private sitting is more intimate, goes further, and lets you ask questions. Group readings for up to ten people can be booked at your own home. He does not publish prices; bookings are made by email or through the contact form. In public demonstrations he works, by his own description, with up to five links at the same time and returns to each until the evidence and the message are complete; his guide is called Paddy. As a trance medium he enters a deep altered state of consciousness in which his guides speak in their own voices – he demonstrates trance publicly and also teaches it. Alongside this he runs seminars for beginners and for advanced students, online seminars over Zoom, awareness groups, and one-to-one mentoring in which he teaches, among other things, the difference between the psychic and the mediumistic state. Together with his wife Kate, who works as an astrologer, he organises spiritual retreats in Glastonbury and in Abruzzo, Italy. A distinct part of his work is the investigation of paranormal activity – hauntings and poltergeists in homes and buildings, which he addresses either in person or remotely. He traces this back to his own experiences from childhood onwards.
