Alexa Kriele (b. 1961 in Überlingen) coined her own job title for what she does: angel interpreter. Since 1994 she has, in her own words, been translating between people and angels – long before angels became a major book-market topic. Her books appeared with major trade publishers, and her appearances with Alfred Biolek and Johannes B. Kerner made her known across Germany. Her credo sounds surprisingly sober for a spiritual author: using the knowledge of the angels, she says, is not a question of faith but of intelligence.
Philosopher, journalist – and then 1994
Alexa Kriele comes from a southern German family of physicians and grew up on Lake Constance. She studied philosophy and psychology and at first worked in entirely worldly fields: adult education, journalism, and leadership seminars for managers. By her own account she has always perceived the presence of angels; in 1994 she turned that perception into her profession and has worked full-time as an angel interpreter ever since.
Interpreting instead of trance
Her self-chosen title is the point: Alexa Kriele does not channel an entity speaking through her, nor does she work in trance. She describes her work as exactly what an interpreter does: she hears a person's question, passes it on to the angels, hears their answer – and translates it into plain words. Throughout, she says, she remains fully clear and awake.

Within German-language angel work she thus stands alongside voices such as Jana Haas, who developed her own approach as an angel medium – but the approaches differ markedly: here the wide-awake interpreting of question and answer, there mediumistic perception and energy work.
"Wie im Himmel so auf Erden"
In the late 1990s her four-volume foundational work Wie im Himmel so auf Erden ("As in Heaven, So on Earth") appeared, initially with a small publisher; later, major trade houses such as Droemer Knaur and Random House took over her titles. Among the books that followed were Die Engel geben Antwort, Mit den Engeln das Leben meistern, Von Naturgeistern lernen and – in conversation with afterlife researcher Bernard Jakoby – Mit den Engeln über die Schwelle zum Jenseits, which connects her angel work with the question of the end of life.
Behind the books stands a remarkable marriage: Alexa Kriele was married to the constitutional law scholar Martin Kriele (1931–2020), for many years a professor in Cologne. It was he who turned her spoken interpretations into book form – "without him there would not be a single book," she said on television, "he converted the spoken word into the written word." That a renowned constitutional jurist publicly took his wife's angel work seriously caused a stir – and drew criticism – in the 2000s; the couple remained unmoved.
With Biolek and Kerner
Alexa Kriele became known across Germany through television: in 2000 she appeared on Alfred Biolek's "Boulevard Bio", and in December 2003 and 2004 on Johannes B. One answer from the Kerner show is remarkable: asked whether her "angel hours" were expensive, she named the price of 180 euros – and added that such an hour is usually needed only once in a lifetime, because the essential questions can be settled within it. This attitude – not binding clients to oneself but making them independent – she shares with the most reputable practitioners of the field: Dolly Röschli, for instance, recommends seeing a medium at most twice a year.
Why Alexa Kriele is interesting

Alexa Kriele embodies a distinctive variety of spiritual work: down-to-earth in tone, intellectually grounded, and by her own declaration designed to make itself unnecessary. Whatever one thinks about angels – in the German-speaking world this combination has no second face.
