Sheila French is a spiritualist medium and trance medium in Folkestone, Kent, England. The official register of the Spiritualists' National Union lists her with the DSNU in Demonstrating and Speaking as well as the CSNU awards in speaking and demonstrating; she also holds the TDS and Hon. Adv. Dip. She is the founder of the Ershamstar School of Mediumship. The idea came to her more than twenty years ago, when as a student at the Arthur Findlay College she attended a course given by Glyn Edwards, a student and friend of Gordon Higginson: she dreamed of a centre of excellence where students would be recognised as individuals and could blossom in a safe environment, with empathic tutors who stay available throughout a course. She has been organising courses ever since and has worked with many of the country's leading tutors and mediums. By her own account her trance mediumship has been assessed both scientifically and spiritually. The school runs residential courses in Folkestone – full board in single en-suite rooms, with day places also available – alongside Zoom workshops, mentorships, practice circles, open question-and-answer sessions on Facebook Live and divine services. The courses cover evidential and trance mediumship in their various aspects and are taught by Sheila French herself; the practice circles are led by colleagues from her team. A deposit of 80 pounds secures a place, the balance falls due six weeks before the course starts, and payment schemes are available. The school's website is currently unreachable – enquiries, dates and announcements go through the school's Facebook page and the booking address.
