David Thompson

David Thompson is a physical medium in Sydney. His home circle, originally founded as the Haymist Circle in the UK around 1994, was re-formed as the „Circle of The Silver Cord" after he moved to Australia in 2004. His abilities range from the very rare form of materialisation mediumship using ectoplasm through mental mediumship and deep trance to spiritual healing. He became aware of his perception at around six years of age, when he saw and heard those who had passed – no great surprise in a Spiritualist family. Over some three decades his work has taken him to the UK, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Denmark. His séances take place with a circle of sitters: the circle works with a cabinet, and the medium is secured at arms and legs before the sitting. His mediumship has repeatedly been examined under controlled conditions over the years; Montague Keen, for fifty-five years a member of the Council of the Society for Psychical Research and secretary of its Survival Research Committee, examined a sitting before his death in 2004 and reached a positive verdict in his report. Other observers assess the phenomena sceptically – opinions differ. Among others he has taught alongside Nicole Janssen at a trance and physical week in the Netherlands.
